Anything that changes the surface tone and color of the skin, like artificial topical bronzing products, makeup that covers and conceals the natural tone and color of the area to be screened.

How often should I be tested for skin cancer?

The American Skin Cancer Society does not have guidelines for screening, but medical professionals suggest to check your skin regularly and be aware of your patterns for moles, freckles, blemished and if they change.
